THIS HURTS!

What hurts…: I tore my achilles tendon and had it surgically repaired but am still having a significant amount of pain with walking distances and I am unable to run.

How you hurt it…: It was a complete tear of the tendon while playing football.

When you hurt it…: 6-9 months ago .

Your pain level (1 is low, 10 is high pain): minimal at rest and severe with walking.

Your age and overall health…: 40 and in good health.

YOUR INJURY COULD BE…

Achilles Tendon Tear

REHAB YOUR INJURY BY…

Nerve Glide: Lay down on your back with both legs extended. Use a rope or band and wrap around the ball of your foot. Keep your leg straight and pull your toes towards you. Come up until you feel the stretch down the back of your legs or feel your symptoms. Pump your foot up and down, keeping your leg as straight as you can. Do not hold the stretch, continue to pump into the pain and out of the pain. Continue for two minutes on each leg.

Heel Raises: While sitting, lift your heels up keeping your weight on your toes. As you can perform this exercise with no pain, perform these standing. Then you want to again progress yourself to performing these on one foot. Your goal is to complete 2 sets of 20 repetitions.

Icing: 15 minutes for 2 to 3 times per day, with at least one hour in-between.

THIS HURTS!

What hurts…: my inner ankle underneath the bone. There is very little swelling, when compared to my right ankle.but if I touch it, it hurts. I’ve had this happen once before and it took forever to heal.
How you hurt it…: I was vaccuuming the rugs and laid on my ankle to get under the dresser, and I felt a pull. I iced immediately and put a compression sock on it. This seemed to help.
When you hurt it…: Sunday afternoon.
Your pain level (1 is low, 10 is high pain): 4 or 5.
Your age and overall health…: I’m 44 and in good health
Any other information you feel is relevant…: I know I have to start slow, what exercises can I do and when should I start doing them. I am so afraid that it won’t get better. I am trying to stay off it as much as I can, but I’m a mom and it’s hard to rest.
